Journal, Life Compass, and Multigenre Reflection

This semester we have to make another journal for the class. This one needs to have 40 journals and 20 life compasses. I have never written about my life or something that has happened to me in a journal. I have written journals before but they were about specific topics and I have to explain how that affects me or what I know about that topic. This type of writing has changed me a lot because I was able to express myself and I enjoyed what I was writing. I realize that I am always busy and that I need to have a balance between studies and enjoying my life. I am not a fan of writing but I do enjoy it. At the beginning my writing was poor. I didn’t write fluently and I had a hard time finding the correct word to use. But as the time passed and I keep writing journals I noticed that I was able to find the words a lot easier and faster. Also, I was capable to write more because I knew what words I had to use. Sometimes the words I used to use were not written the correct way, but I have improved a little on that.

Writing a journal is one thing, but evaluating your life is something very different. Every time I had to do it, I would think about how I had gone in my day and then evaluate myself. I got used to doing it and although I was getting worse in my way of drawing, it became a habit to do it every day. Last semester we did the same thing but I still not get used to it. I think now that is a great activity because we can evaluate ourselves and see how our day is going. Also, it works for knowing when to make a change. The other half of the notebook was a multigenre section that was for us to make some works, we make three. The first one was covering our notebook with pictures of English and other stuff that we like. The second one was the one I liked the most. We have to make a letter for our younger self. I enjoy that one because it was like a relief of some of the decisions that I take that I was not happy or the ones that I should’ve taken.

Making these three activities really change my mind and help me develop my English. I really feel more confident about how I read, write and speak English. But besides all this activity I have to attribute my learning of English to my hard work and endeavor.
